Abstract

Criminal organizations survive thanks to their capacity to adapt and transform. Hence, in recent years we have seen a process of fragmentation that has modified criminal structures up to the point that the big cartels have disappeared. This paper analyzes this transformation and focuses on the particular form that criminal structures have taken in Argentina: the family clans. Likewise, we analyzed this model of criminal organizations that depends on facilitators in order to create networks that would allow them to play globally. Considering these changes and the costs generated, we will also work on how States have had to modernize their cooperation strategies in order to contain the advance of organized crime.
