Los desafíos de la ciudadanía en las sociedades contemporáneas
Keywords:
Citizenship, democracy, transformations, universalism, particularismAbstract
Within the framework of the transformations that contemporary societies go through, citizenship faces the challenge of having a conversation with changes. Within this context, this works focuses first on reviewing the debate produced by the different trends of thought, which capture the different traditions and approaches when defining citizenship. Secondly, it focuses on thinking about one of the main problems in argument: the tension between universalism and particularism. Universalism is nowadays asked for in the global stage and it is supposed to generate the debate about the need to redefine the conception and the actual content of citizenship. It is about citizenship redefining “we” when having a conversation with the “others”. Our intention is to recover the trend of debate surrounding this problematic through the critical revision in the field of philosophy and political sociology, about some trends of contemporary thought.
