Abstract

In spite of the fact that the state doesn’t run out of the public, there is a public-state segment that is needed to reassure the validity and reach of the universalistic promises and contents of the democracy. This paper presents a theoretical revision about the links between the public-state and the democracy and investigates about the oscillation of this connection in the argentine experience. This study involves three different dimensions of the public-state that takes it as what is common to everybody, as what is opened to control and public debate and as a expression of universalistic exchanges. This revision is orientated by the idea that the state and quality of these dimensions is not useless for our democracy and its possibilities of improvement.
