Abstract

In this paper we propose to track theatrical policies in the province of Santa Fe for the period 1940-1989. For this, we reconstruct the government agenda of cultural policies at the provincial level; we follow a diachronic axis by focusing on the definitions of culture used, the main working lines and the construction of the theatre as a matter of government. Taking into account that actors are one of the fundamental factors in shaping the agenda of government, we will plot the joints between different provincial governments and independent theatre artists from Rosario, the most important center of theatrical production in the province. In this way we hope to provide a global perspective on an unexplored topic for the province of Santa Fe and to include a dimension unaddressed in the work on the subject: the role of artists in shaping the field of cultural policies and its institutions.
