Keywords:
Political discourse, pathos, polemic speech, invective, TwitterAbstract
It’s known that Twitter entered in the political arena raises many challenges for the political communication. The spontaneity that characterizes the platform, combined with the impulsivity and verbosity of some actors, makes some of the messages bad for the image of politicians. This paper, by means of discourse analysis, intends to make a typology of violent discourse on Twitter, the variations are based on the different rates of aggression and argumentation. Overall, this study tries to shed a light on the benefits that polemics could bring and, of course, looks out to prevent the risks that an outburst of anger may cause.
