Redefiniendo la defensa: posicionamiento estratégico defensivo regional
Keywords:
Public policies, foreign policy, defense policy, conflict hypothesis, strategic postureAbstract
This paper adopts the perspective of public policy theories in order to analyze the defense policy in Argentina. It is sustained that foreign policy and defense policy are related, which has allowed to suppress the traditional hypothesis of conflict with our neighbors. Thanks to that, Argentina has chosen a defensive strategic posture which is based in two principles: a) civil government of defense policy and b) separation of defense policy and homeland security. Finally, while some social and politic actors want to go back to the national security doctrine, this paper proposes a look beyond those intentions and it figures out a new strategic posture without leaving those principles.
