This paper studies the trajectory of the Peronist Party between 1947 and 1955 in the most important province of Argentina. It emphasizes on the patterns of the party’s inner organization and the configuration of its leadership. The analysis of empirical material will show the existence of two different types of party at that time, marked by a profound caesura or break in continuity occurring around 1951, suggesting that it was originated in the struggle for power between rival leading peronist groups.
