Abstract

The article aims to demonstrate the interconnectedness of national politics and those of Buenos Aires Province between 1983 and 2005 expressed in the upper leadership positions of the provincial Justicialist Party. The result is translated in the presence of a gray area where both territories “nest” their political dynamic, producing different scenarios derived from three types of political impact: the “provincializing” (the impact of the province on the nation), the “nationalizing” (the nation’s effect over the province), and cooperative. The article partially refutes the myth of exclusive influence of provincial politics in the national sphere at the same time that it verifies the inverse process by which Buenos Aires Province, as no other sub-national state, suffers from the avatars of macro-politics.
