Abstract

In this paper we analyze some of the debates on drug policies adopted in Argentina during the administrations of the Kirchners (2003-2015), in particular during the period that began with the Arriola’s decision of the Argentine Supreme Court in 2009. We develop a qualitative research strategy. The data consists of semi-structured interviews that were carried out between 2016 and 2019 with stakeholders. The article concludes stating that the debates within the field of drug use have constituted another dimension of the “fissure”. The antinomic character with which were expressed the views of those that took part in the debates have reproduced this way of coding the conflicts of contemporary Argentine society.
